Only a few hours of 2015

are remaining and we will be welcoming in the new year in the comfort of our cosy home. 

And what a year! 

I do not know about y'all but I am spent, all used up and feel that the coming year needs to be a time when I just recharge my batteries and refuel, because now I am running on vapors.

The first course is very Swedish and is called Toast Skagen. 

The main course: 

Beef tenderloin with black pepper sauce and butter roasted Brussels sprouts.

Konsten att kunna "schäfta om"

eller rättare sagt att kunna ta det man redan har och göra något annat av det. 

När de här vita Amaryllisplantorna blev så långa att de började hota med att tippa ur krukan klippte jag av blommorna och satte dem i sill burken. 

Knoppen som ännu inte hunnit slå ut fick sitta kvar med löken men hamnade i en annan mindre kruka.

My 18-year old is spending the holidays in Bali and did just send me these lovely pictures. 

They are traveling around and have been on two islands already.

Finally it snowed! 

Men inga stora mängder och med det känner vi inte riktigt igen oss den här tiden på året. 

Vi ska ju pulsa i tjock härlig snö nu och inte halka runt på lömska vit-pudrade isfläckar. Livsfarligt! 

Vid båthamnen alldeles nedanför vårt hus har snön lagt sig gnistrande vackert på isen. 

Även inomhus har det blivit lite vitare...

De röda Amaryllisarna från julen såg så eländiga ut att jag bytte ut dem mot dessa vackra vita nu till nyår och jag är stormförtjust. Vitt, krispigt och fräscht får välkomna in 2016.

Ja, snart är det då dags att blicka tillbaka på året som gått och försöka sammanfatta och ett enda ord hoppar då starkt och irriterande envist fram för min del och det stavas 

U-SVÄNG 

Förmågan att omvärdera och blixtsnabbt fatta stora avgörande beslut. 

Ensam bland andra. Modig fast livrädd. Säker i tvivlet. Lugn med en kokande hjärna.

Japp! Det har verkligen varit det genomgående temat för mig detta år, och jag har fortfarande ingen aning om vart vi är på väg. För första gången ser jag inte den röda tråden i livet.

El Nino

is causing havoc even here in Sweden and as a result we hardly have any snow which in turn can potentially have devastating effects in this part of the country since this is where we have some of the largest ski resorts. Usually this time of the year we have tons of snow.

Antique tassels from Japan on hand painted white and blue china, looks great on the heavy mahogany buffet that I bought in an antique store in Ellicot City, Maryland back in 1999. 

Matching tassel dresses up the mahogany silver trolley that we found in an antique store in Austin, Texas. 

Livet är förunderligt

• Vad skall det bli av det här? 
• Vad är meningen? 
• Vad är det vi ska lära oss? 

Om man bara visste så skulle man kunna fokusera, försöka förstå och vara pro-aktiv. 

Istället får man stå kvar och vänta. Vänta på att denna resa skall sluta och att en ny ska börja.

This is the most wonderful time of the year...

 Ah, look! 

Christmas has finally arrived in our Swedish Cottage, 

and of course we do have a real Christmas tree. 

And here are tons of pictures from our cottage...

Christmas eve morning in our house. 

 As per annual tradition our family drove up the mountain to the very famous summer farm Fryksås were we gather to eat Christmas dinner at Fryksås Hotel. 

As always we ate way too much from this delicious typical Swedish Smörgåsbord. 

My favorite pickled herring and salmon in all shapes, forms and garnishes. 

Lovely dessert table with typical Swedish treats. 

We also ate exotic things from beautiful antique copper pots like moose, deer, and bear meatballs.
